GW 28: Chelsea vs. Tottenham

Image
We return to the Premier League straight away with midweek games and we’ve got a great fixture coming up for us on Wednesday as Chelsea face Spurs in what should be an entertaining London Derby. Both teams are highly involved in the race for Champions League football and although Tottenham are 8 points off 5th place this lead could be easily lost within a number of days especially when they are playing teams of the caliber of Chelsea. Chelsea are one of two teams to have a game in hand over the rest of the league as they sit in 6th place, 3 points behind Arsenal in 4th and 10 points off this Spurs side. These teams have had an extremely tight rivalry over the past few seasons with 3 wins a piece over the last 6 matches between them. In these last 6 though, only 3 have come in the Premier League in which Spurs have come out on top winning 2 with Chelsea only winning 1. One of Tottenham’s wins came in the reverse fixture in the league in which they managed to win 3-1 at their own gr

GW 27: Arsenal vs. Southampton

Image
This week’s final fixture (along with Manchester United vs. Liverpool) comes from the Emirates as Arsenal are facing Southampton. Although, when you look at the league table, this doesn’t seem like a very even fixture with Arsenal in 5th and Southampton in the relegation battle in 18th, this could prove to be a tighter match than it looks as Southampton have had some promising moments under Hasenhuttl. Both teams’ form have been very unstable lately with no real coherency from one performance to the next which is highlighted by Southampton beating Everton and Leicester and then just weeks late drawing with Burnley and losing to Cardiff. This inconsistency of the sides involved makes it very hard to predict what will happen in this match and an upset could occur like in the last time these sides met. This last match was a dramatic 3-2 Southampton win in which they capitalized on some Arsenal errors to come out as unexpected victors. Arsenal were actually quite unlucky to lose this

GW 27: Bournemouth vs. Wolves

Image
This weekend, we have an intense mid table clash coming up for us as Wolves travel to the Vitality to face Bournemouth on Saturday. Wolves have excelled in recent matches which has seen them move up to 7th while Bournemouth have done the opposite slipping outside the top 10 and into 11th. Still though, only 6 points separate the sides meaning this margin could be reduced to 3 or expanded to 9 by the end of the match. The teams, however, seem less well matched when you look at expected points with Wolves actually in 5th on 43 while Bournemouth have a mere 34. These teams have only met 3 times in their histories with only one of these, the reverse fixture earlier this season, coming in the Premier League while the other two came in the 2014/15 Championship season. In these matches, Bournemouth have won 2 with Wolves winning only 1, however, Wolves’ one win came in the reverse fixture this season when they were at home. In this match, Wolves came out on top 2-0 as they got into good

GW 27: Manchester United vs. Liverpool

In the upcoming set of fixtures we have a classic match as a rejuvenated Manchester United side t ake on Liverpool at Old Trafford. With both teams in superb form at the moment and with them fighting to achieve their separate goals this looks to be an exciting fixture with plenty of drama. While United’s form has skyrocketed in recent weeks, Liverpool have slumped in a form slightly, however, they are still level on points with City even with a game in hand. The last match between these teams ended in Liverpool completely outplaying United. Although the score was only 3-1 in Liverpool’s favour they never looked in doubt in the match with expected goals predicting the game at a comfortable score of 2.66 to 0.60 as Liverpool took an incredible 36 shots in the match while United only managed 6 and 2 on target. Liverpool also had 65% possession as United barely got on the ball and never looked like threatening the opposition's goal. However, you’d be right to expect a very differe

GW 26: Manchester City vs. Chelsea

There’s a big match this weekend that could be a massive title decider as Chelsea travel to the Etihad to face Manchester City. Due to the quality of these sides, this was always going to be a tense and important match but with City level on points with Liverpool and with Chelsea only 2 points ahead of 5th, the game is no doubt going to be hyped up even more due to it’s possible value to the sides involved. Both teams achieved wins in their last matches, however, while City are in top form, Chelsea are currently enduring a rough spell at the club with manager Maurizio Sarri questioning some of his players’ commitment to the team. The reverse fixture between them was a thrilling match in which Chelsea ran out 2-0 winners after a rigid performance from them. This was one of Sarri’s best tactical games with Chelsea as he employed a deep block very well as Chelsea finished their chances brilliantly in order for them to keep their defensive structure intact. The game had a combined exp

GW 26: Tottenham vs. Leicester

Image
After Everton vs. Manchester City midweek, the Premier League resumes straight away bringing us action from Wembley as Tottenham will be facing Leicester on Sunday. Tottenham are tight on the heels of the top 2 while Leicester are just off the top 10 making the match crucial for both teams if they want to move ahead of their rivals and achieve their separate goals. Tottenham are at home in the match where they’ve actually been worse as they have only averaged 2 points per every home game while 2.53 for every away game. This is similar for Leicester as well, who have been averding 1.16 points while at home and 1.38 points when away showing that Tottenham being at home might actually prove to be disadvantage for them. When Tottenham faced Leicester earlier this season they were away, as they won 2-0 and although they won they didn’t fully dominate the match. Leicester had more shots and shots on target in the match while Tottenham scored with their only 2 shots on target showing how

GW 26: Everton vs. Manchester City

Everton against Manchester City is the only midweek fixture this week, as now that the FA cup is starting to take shape the Premier League fixtures are having to be manipulated. This will be a tough fixture for the teams involved as they have had to play a lot of games in a row up to this point and Manchester City’s depth might be a key component in determining the result of the match. Manchester City are in decent form at the moment while Everton have really started slipping losing 4 of their last 6 matches which has meant they are slowly declining and could potentially finish outside the top 10. In recent years, Manchester City have been the better side when it comes to this fixture, however, it’s been closer than you might think considering how much City have achieved over the last few seasons. In the last 6 matches between them, City have won 3 and Everton have won 1 with 5 of these matches coming in the Premier League. However, City have won their last 2 against Everton, incl
