GW 25: Leicester vs. Chelsea

Image
Leicester vs. Chelsea After a week and a half long break from league football for most Premier League clubs, action from England’s top flight is set to resume this weekend. And as for most gameweeks, there are a number of tantalizing fixtures. Manchester United will face Wolves on Saturday, while Spurs play Manchester City a day later, however; the biggest attraction will likely be the match between Leicester and Chelsea. With both of these teams vigorously involved in the race for Champions League football, this game will not only have an affect on the respective sides but the clubs around them as well. Despite poor form, both of these sides remain in the top four for now. Leicester currently sit in 3rd, with 48 points, while Chelsea are in 4th, 8 points behind their upcoming opponents. In this match, Chelsea will have the chance to limit this gap to 5, but will be more focused on pulling away from the chasing pack. Manchester United, Tottenham and Wolves are all on

GW 24: Wolves vs. Liverpool

Wolves vs. Liverpool Wolves have become the Premier League’s giant killers ever since their promotion at the start of the 18/19 campaign, and at the moment there’s no bigger giant in world football than Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool. The Reds are currently both European and world champions while they come into this midweek fixture with a 16 point lead at the summit of the Premier League table. In short, they’ve become imperious. After 22 matches, they remain undefeated in the league, having gained 64 points from a possible 66. They are well on course to finish the season with a record number of points, and could even go unbeaten. However, they certainly won’t have it easy in their next league match. Wolves have already beat Manchester City twice this year in the Premier League, while they’ve earned draws against both Leicester and Arsenal. And in their earlier match against Liverpool, they lost just 1-0. In fact, many will argue that they were unlucky to lose in this matc

GW 23: Liverpool vs. Manchester United

Liverpool vs. Manchester United The biggest rivalry in England? Although it hasn’t been the most highly esteemed fixture over the last few years, the history between the sides would certainly suggest so. The atmosphere surrounding the game is always brilliant, showing what it means to the fans. And across the last three or four seasons, the results are certainly indicative of a typical English rivalry. In the last 5 meetings between them, their have been 3 draws, with each team winning 1. This is despite the Premier League dominance that Liverpool have shown over this period. Since the 17/18 campaign, Liverpool have gained 52 more points than the Manchester outfit, yet the results tell a different story. Although the quality of this United side is far from what it used to be, when they meet Liverpool, their league form seems to melt away. In October, this was certainly the case, as the teams played out a rigid 1-1 draw. Although this doesn’t sound like anything too spe

GW 23: Norwich vs. Bournemouth

Image
Norwich vs. Bournemouth As we move into January, relegation becomes a much more threatening prospect to the teams near the bottom of the table. And with just 16 matches left to play, both Norwich and Bournemouth find themselves in critically dangerous positions. While most of the attention is often focused on teams further up the table, it’s always interesting to look towards those relegation spots and analyze what’s gone wrong. This upcoming match can only be defined as a relegation “6 pointer” as these sides currently sit in 20th and 19th respectively. For Norwich this may of been more of an expectation, given their relative lack of financing in the summer. But for Bournemouth, alarm bells will be ringing as they are in danger of dropping out of the Premier League for the first time in 5 seasons. They are, however, just 2 points away from safety, making this winnable match incredibly crucial. When these sides met last, Bournemouth weren’t able to capitalize on their
