Arsenal vs. Chelsea Now, having reached the midway point in the 2019/20 Premier League campaign, we can sit back and reflect on what a surprising start to the season it’s been. And as we look towards the year’s last round of fixtures, Arsenal and Chelsea are set to face in a crucial London Derby. Both of these teams have been surprising this year, however; for entirely different reasons. While for Chelsea it was a summer of dismay, they have managed to rebound spectacularly at the start of this campaign in order to find themselves in a Champions League position. In Arsenal’s case, they have thoroughly disappointed their fanbase up to this point, having endured a dreadful season thus far. The odds seemed heavily stacked against Chelsea at the beginning of the campaign, yet they have managed to surpass expectations and they currently sit 8 points ahead of this Arsenal side. The clubs are currently separated by 7 places in the table, indicating the gulf in quality betwee

Leicester vs. Liverpool In a season packed full of surprises thus far, the Premier League table looks far from settled as we look towards the midway point. One of the biggest shocks in the English top flight this year has obviously been the extreme success of Leicester, who have surpassed everyone’s expectations. On this year’s round of Boxing Day fixtures, high-flying Leicester City are set to face table-toppers Liverpol in a potentially season-defining match. These teams currently make up the top 2 in this season’s Premier League, and although they are split by 10 points, all is still to play for over the second half of the season, as both teams have a shot at winning the title. Liverpool could, however, end Leicester’s hopes here. These sides have already faced once this season in the Premier League, in a match that ended 2-1 in Liverpool’s favour. While Leicester have lost just 3 games all season, they were thoroughly dominated in this latest match with the Reds.

Tottenham vs. Chelsea While the London Derbies come thick and fast across the entirety of the Premier League campaign, the matches between Tottenham and Chelsea have stood out over the past few seasons, providing us with great entertainment. Both of these sides have rose substantially over the last couple of decades, not only challenging the top teams in the Premier League, but also against Europe’s elite in the Champions League. Neither of these clubs have been having a vintage season though, and while Chelsea do currently sit in a Champions League place, Spurs have found themselves languishing in 5th. This is set to be a crucial match in the race for Champions League football, as the sides are currently split by just 3 points, meaning Spurs would move ahead of their rivals if they were to win here. A fixture of this importance is something that these sides have become accustomed to when facing each other. At the end of the 2018/19 campaign, just 1 point separated the sides, w

GW 18: Manchester City vs. Leicester

Manchester City vs. Leicester While this match may have been disregarded as a one-team affair in recent seasons, a lot has changed in the Premier League over the past few months, which has altered the complexion of this fixture entirely. Although Liverpool remain the runaway leaders at the summit of the Premier League, Manchester City and Leicester sit in 3rd and 2nd respectively, proving the quality of this upcoming game. Also, despite the 10 point gap between Liverpool in 1st and Leicester in 2nd, both of these teams will remain hopeful of mounting a title challenge, making this game crucial for their separate ambitions. Like mentioned, this game is set to be a much more evenly matched contest than it has been in the past, as Leicester have made massive strides under Brendan Rodgers. While Leicester have lost 3 of their last 4 in this fixture, they did manage to beat City at the King Power Stadium last season, in a surprising 2-1 victory. Despite their relatively po
