GW 11: Crystal Palace vs. Leicester

Gameweek 11 Crystal Palace vs. Leicester The Premier League season has offered us plenty of shocks so far, and as we head into gameweek 11, there is an enticing fixture in store for us between two teams who have surprised everyone up to this point. On Sunday, Leicester against Crystal Palace might not be the main fixture; with Everton and Tottenham facing later in the day, but given the form of these two sides, it will certainly make for an interesting game. Currently, Leicester are sitting in 3rd, while Crystal Palace have defied the odds even further, proving everyone wrong by making their way into the top 6. While for Leicester, their strong start could have been anticipated, Crystal Palace were largely touted to finish in the relegation zone this campaign, but they have actually looked incredibly solid in a number of areas. Leicester look the much stronger side at the moment, but it was surprisingly Crystal Palace who dominated in this fixture last year

GW 10: Liverpool vs. Tottenham

Another week of the Premier League features another week of big fixtures, and this week, the biggest and most important game will be Liverpool against Tottenham. As shown by last year’s European competition, these sides are two of the best in the world at the moment, and while they were both finalists in last season’s Champions League, they have gone in opposite directions since then. Liverpool’s win has propelled them to new heights this year, but on the other hand, Tottenham have seemingly struggled to cope with another season without a trophy, and behind the scenes, things don’t look pretty for Spurs. This is showing on the field as well as they currently sit in 7th. As for Liverpool, they are the league leaders at the moment, a full 13 points ahead of their upcoming opponents. When looking back at the past few matches between these sides, this Liverpool dominance becomes even more apparent. Last season these teams faced each other three times, twice in the

GW 10: Newcastle vs. Wolves

With the Premier League really heating up now, as we approach the tenth gameweek of the new season, the table is shaping up in quite an unusual way, with many sides performing either better or worse than what was originally expected. One side that have massively fallen off from last season is Wolves, and they are set to play in a crucial fixture against Newcastle this weekend. While Newcastle may not be the most high quality opponents, sitting 18th in the table, Wolves struggle against sides who employ a deep block, and they don’t have the best record against sides in the bottom ten. Along with this, Newcastle have actually been very solid defensively this campaign. The Magpies are incredibly adept at sitting deep, and Steve Bruce has managed to maintain the strong organization that was started during Rafa Benitez’s reign. This defensive resistance was shown when these two teams met last season as well. Newcastle lost 2-1 when playing at home, but this was large

GW 9: Manchester United vs. Liverpool

With the return of Premier League football comes the return of a Premier League classic, as Manchester United are set to face Liverpool this weekend. However, this fixture has lost some of it’s glory over the past couple of seasons, as while Liverpool have returned to the heights at which they once were, United have been on a continuous downward spiral since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson. At the moment, the sides are separated by an astronomical 13 points after just 8 games, with Liverpool in 1st while United sit in 12th. Although United have been in poor form to start the new season, a number of factors have been going against them, and while they are by no means an elite side, their results haven’t fully represented the quality of their play. When looking at the underlying statistics, these teams are actually quite close on a number of metrics. This means that we could expect a similar game to last season, when these sides drew in this fixture. While Liverp

GW 9: Chelsea vs. Newcastle

While international football has provided us with some entertainment in the absence of regular league play, nothing can beat the drama and excitement of the Premier League, which is returning this weekend. There are a number of interesting fixtures to watch out for on matchweek 9, but perhaps one that has slipped under the radar is Chelsea’s home game against Newcastle. While there is a fair bit of disparity between these two sides in the league table, there are a number of factors that suggest that this is a game worth looking into further. First of all, while Chelsea sit in 5th, they have been fairly inconsistent in league play, and under Lampard they never seem as stable as they have been in the past. Along with this, Newcastle have already upset some of the bigger sides this year, and they might be confident in doing so again. When these sides faced in the league last year, Chelsea won both games 2-1, which is a positive for them. However, Chelsea have weakened in a number o
