GW 22: Tottenham vs. Liverpool

Image
Tottenham vs. Liverpool During a difficult time in the season, as we enter the new year and leave the festive fixtures behind us, Tottenham seem to be struggling under Jose Mourinho while Liverpool are continuing on their imperious run of form. The Reds of course, come into this match on top of the Premier League table, and are loving life in every possible way. They currently have an incredible 13 point lead over 2nd place Leicester, and an even more impressive 28 point lead over their upcoming opponents. While this is perhaps more indicative of Liverpool’s recent Premier League dominance, it also provides an insight into how Spurs are performing this campaign. The Lilywhites currently sit in 6th, having won just 8 of their 21 Premier League games to start the season. They have, however, seen an improvement since the last time they faced the Reds. When these teams met up earlier in the season, Liverpool came out of the match with a relatively comfortable 2-1 win. Despite going ...

GW 22: Everton vs. Brighton

Everton vs. Brighton After a break from league action due to the 3rd round of the FA Cup, the Premier League is set to return this weekend along with the usual drama that comes with it. While most of the focus will likely be on the game between Tottenham and Liverpool, Everton and Brighton are facing on the same day in what should be an interesting mid-table clash. Although this wouldn’t typically be thought of as a must-watch match, both of these sides have been intriguing recently. Currently, the sides sit in 11th and 14th respectively, however; they look set to improve over the second half of the season. This is largely due to the quality of manager that each of these clubs have at the helm. Graham Potter has already given a massive boost to this Brighton side who were nearly relegated last year, while Carlo Ancellotti has started his managerial career at Everton strongly. Also, both of these teams have already made big improvements since there match against each ot...

GW 21: Liverpool vs. Sheffield United

Liverpool vs. Sheffield United As we look towards matchweek 21 of the 2019/20 Premier League campaign, it will be interesting to see how the teams perform on their first game of the new year, and their first game of the decade. Two teams who had a year to remember in 2019 were Liverpool and Sheffield United, and they are set to face midweek. Liverpool of course are top of the Premier League as we enter the new year, while Sheffield United come into this game in 8th, despite having just been promoted. Both of these sides have risen well above their expectations this season, proving their doubters wrong. At the moment, Liverpool look well on their way to winning their first ever Premier League title, with a 13 point lead and a game in hand over 2nd place Leicester. As for Sheffield United, a top half finish would certainly suit them, as many touted them to finish in the relegation spots this season. Having just been promoted this campaign, the Blades have only faced Li...

GW 20: Arsenal vs. Chelsea

Image
Arsenal vs. Chelsea Now, having reached the midway point in the 2019/20 Premier League campaign, we can sit back and reflect on what a surprising start to the season it’s been. And as we look towards the year’s last round of fixtures, Arsenal and Chelsea are set to face in a crucial London Derby. Both of these teams have been surprising this year, however; for entirely different reasons. While for Chelsea it was a summer of dismay, they have managed to rebound spectacularly at the start of this campaign in order to find themselves in a Champions League position. In Arsenal’s case, they have thoroughly disappointed their fanbase up to this point, having endured a dreadful season thus far. The odds seemed heavily stacked against Chelsea at the beginning of the campaign, yet they have managed to surpass expectations and they currently sit 8 points ahead of this Arsenal side. The clubs are currently separated by 7 places in the table, indicating the gulf in quality betwee...
