GW 2: Manchester City vs. Tottenham

Image
We’ve now witnessed the first week of Premier League action in the 2019/20 campaign and although we had some mouthwatering fixtures last week, none were quite as important as Manchester City vs. Tottenham on gameweek two. Due to impressive performances last season and also having completed smart business this summer, City and Spurs two of the favourites to win the league and most people expect that they have both already nailed down Champions League spots. This means that this match could have an effect on the title race come the end of the season and with a chance to make such a big impact so early on, it should be really exciting to watch. Last season Manchester City seemed far superior to their upcoming opponents after finishing first with a 27 point lead over Spurs who were in fourth. However; when they went head to head, the matches were always very close with a special tensity to them with Manchester City winning 1-0 in both of the two Premier League matches that they play...

GW 1: Leicester vs. Wolves

Image
Of course, a lot of attention will be given to the big six on gameweek one but a fixture that could go under the radar is Leicester vs. Wolves. With a number of problems plaguing temas such as Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal and given that Wolves and Leicester have looked very positive in the transfer market this summer while they also performed brilliantly during the backend of last season, they could both be looking to squeeze into the top six spots and push the elite clubs. They also have a number of young prospects who either played well last season in the Premier League or who have been brought in from abroad to do the trick meaning they the sides should be even better than they were last campaign. Last season, when they played against each other, the games were incredibly exciting and pretty even as well. When at the King Power Stadium in mid August, Leicester beat Wolves 2-0 and despite a comfortable looking scoreline for the home team, Wolves managed the bulk of pos...

GW 1: Manchester United vs. Chelsea

Image
The start of the new Premier League campaign has awarded us with a blockbuster fixture between Manchester United and Chelsea on gameweek one. These clubs have been two of the giants of English and world football over the past couple of decades and the match should be incredibly exciting to watch as it could end up as a landmark game for how these clubs go about their seasons. At the moment, it’s very hard to judge where both of these teams are at in terms of their progress after both managerial and player changes during the off-season, but last season this matchup was extremely tense and even at all times. In the 2018/19 campaign, both the games between the teams were drawn. The last match between them was played at Old Trafford (the venue for this upcoming fixture) where the sides drew 1-1 in a dead even match where there was almost nothing to separate the teams. At Stamford Bridge though, Chelsea were the more dominant side despite the 2-2 scoreline as they kept 62% of the pos...

GW 1: Liverpool vs. Norwich

Image
The long, grueling wait for the return of regular competitive football is nearly over and it looks like were going to be in for another spectacular year of the beautiful game with Liverpool vs. Norwich kicking off the 2019/20 Premier League campaign. This match features two sides who may be far apart in terms of their skill level, but are both on the up and will be feeling confident and looking to carry their momentum from last season into the upcoming year. It’s also very hard to know how good Norwich will be against Liverpool given that the last time that these teams faced was during the 2015/16 Premier League season when Liverpool won 5-4 in a truly exciting fixture that involved constant drama and interchanging goalscoring. Although this game in itself was interesting and unique, the end result was perhaps predictable, as that match marked the 12th game in succession that Norwich had failed to defeat the Reds, with 10 losses throughout that period. And considering the quality ...

Champions League Final Special - Tottenham vs. Liverpool

Image
The Champions League final. The ultimate game of the world’s most elite club competition, and the first all English Champions League final since 2007/08, when Manchester United triumphed over Chelsea. We’ve had an incredible Champions League campaign this year and after two superb semi-final matchups, the tournament is coming to a close for yet another year, hopefully in dramatic fashion. In this year’s final we have a side with vast experience in this competition in Liverpool, and a newcomer to this elite stage in Spurs, who are playing their first ever Champions League final. These two sides are rivals in the Premier League meaning they’ve already played each other twice this season, and in these matches, Liverpool managed to come out on top on both occasions. The matches ended with identical 2-1 scorelines, and honestly, given the way that Liverpool played over this period, they might’ve even deserved more from the matches as they played at a very high level. Liverpool managed ...

GW 38: Brighton vs. Manchester City

Image
The final week of the 2018/19 Premier League campaign. A great chance for Manchester City to grab the title on the last week of the season as they travel to Brighton on Sunday. This could end up as a historic match, particularly if City lose, because the gap between the top two sides, Manchester City and Liverpool, is only one point at the moment, meaning either side could win the title at the last moment. Brighton and City have only faced each other five times in their history and when they have played, it hasn’t looked good for Brighton who have only won once, which was all the way back in a cup fixture in 2008. The last four matches between them have been more recent (over the past two seasons) and Manchester City have won all of these, proving their dominance over the Seagulls. The reverse fixture between the sides earlier in the season ended in a 2-0 Manchester City win and City were fairly comfortable throughout the match, without facing too much threat from their opposition...

GW 38: Liverpool vs. Wolves

Image
It’s all come down to the final week of the Premier League season. An extraordinary title race that has left Liverpool one singular point behind reigning champions Manchester City as they look towards their concluding match of the season. No matter what, Liverpool will have to win this match if they are looking to obtain the Premier League trophy but it won’t be easy considering they are up against the proposition of 7th place Wolves, who have been in top form lately. Also, Wolves won the last match between the sides; however, this was an FA cup game in which Liverpool were resting quite a few of their key players, and in the earlier Premier League game between them, Liverpool managed to come out on top. Liverpool won the reverse fixture 2-0 at Wolves’ home ground in a very solid victory for a Liverpool side who were playing brilliantly around that time of year. Liverpool took 15 shots to Wolves’ 11 while they also managed 1 more on target and with an expected goals score of 2.16 ...
